  1. For now I will remain annomous . I resided at St. Josephs from age 3 to age 9. My time there was a very pleasant experience and I was very well adjusted and happy. After being reeturned to my mother, I found life outside the Home to be a very hostile environment in which I had to learn to adapt rather quickly. Well I did and I survived and went on to have a very happy life after a rough time between age 9 and 21. I have been happily married for 44 years and we have two fine daughters and 2 grandsons. Our oldest girl is married and is a school teacher, while our youngest, also married, is a stay at home mom. My fondest memories of my childhood are those of St Josephs. Thank you for the opportunity to share that with you. DGRDNM

  5. My brother and I are looking for the orphanage that burnt in Oklahoma City somewhere between 1946 and 1950 possibly a little later than these years. Our dad and twin brother was there and got adopted. Both are deceased and now my sister and I have a deadly chronic illness and we need family history. How do I go about finding out things? We know the adoption was closed. His father was in the military and we have the last name and the city where the twins(my dad and uncle) were born. If anyone could help please contact me back @two_onre_4u@yahoo.com. This is very urgent and a must asap type of thing. Thank you.

  6. Hello! I am looking for information about my grandmother. We are not sure of what her given last name was while there, but went by the name of Ruth. She was there probably sometime in the late 30's to mid or late 40's. She came from Sunbeam Family Services to St. Joseph's, but we are not sure where she was before that. I understand that she was removed from her mother's care and placed into Sunbeam as a little girl (mother or the lady taking care of her, was abusive). She was fostered by a couple named the Stukey's and resided in Loyal, OK until she married. We've been trying for years to piece together anything about her, as this was her eternal question: "Where did I come from?" and "Who am I?". Thank you in advance for any information you can provide. Please email me at kpeters2778@hotmail.com

  7. Do we know what agencies were used to adopt children who stayed here? My friend was born at Deaconess Hospital, remembers being here and then was adopted to a family in El Reno. Any help with a contact who worked there, knows which agencies were used for adoption would be greatly appreciated! Reply to pmartin@sunbeamfamilyservices.org - Thank you, Patti Martin
